Why We Use Hermann Oak Leather

We craft our premium patches using Hermann Oak Expedition 1881 veg-tan leather, sourced from a fifth-generation tannery in St. Louis, Missouri. Their leather is tanned the traditional way using natural tree barks, leaves, and acorns, producing a durable, authentic material with rich character and a clean burn for laser engraving.

• When will I see my proof?
  Most proofs are sent the same day your order is placed (within 1 business day max). You’ll approve your design before we start production.
• When do my hats ship?
  Typical turnaround: ships in 7–10 business days after proof approval. Bulk orders may add a few extra days.
• Do you offer free shipping?
  Yes! Orders over $200 ship free anywhere in the U.S.
• Can I reorder easily?
  Yes! Once your patch is approved, reorders are fast — no new setup or design fees. We’ll keep your artwork on file, so reordering is quick and effortless.
• Can I mix and match hat colors in the same order?
  Yes! Click on the various color hats to choose more than one color hat. Do the same for the leather.
• What file type should I upload for the best engraving results?
  A simple “SVG, AI, EPS preferred — PNG works if high resolution” helps prevent bad uploads. Photographs are not good. Not sure? Upload what you have. We can clean or touch up if needed, including a vector conversion.
• Are your leather patches waterproof or weather-resistant?
  Yes! Hermann Oak leather is infused with Hermann Oak's proprietary Oak Guard technology during the tanning process for exceptional weather resistance that will not wear off. Additionally, we coat all of our patches with Fiebings to seal in the engraving and provide a flexible water-repellent gorgeous top finish.
• How durable is the engraving? Will it fade?
  No! We engrave to the right depth for the material and then dip the patch in a protective finish to seal it in as it was made.
